Each statement or passage in this test is followed by a question or questions based on
its content.

Pretty straight-forward, right? But what about that last part: based on its content?
The test-makers are telling you that even if the material in the passage is totally
unfamiliar to you, you will be able to answer the questions because all of the answers
can be found in the passage.
Further, the test-makers are telling you that if the information in an answer choice is
not in the passage, that answer choice is incorrect. Here's an example:

A tricycle is a three-wheeled, motorless vehicle often ridden by small
children. It is propelled by the rotation of a central gear which is attached by
chain to a gear on the front wheel.

According to the passage, a tricycle is propelled by
(A)   the feet.
(B)   wind.
(C)   a small motor.
(D)   gravity.
(E)   the rotation of a central gear.

It is common knowledge that a tricycle is propelled by the feet. That's how the central
gear gets rotated. However, there is no mention of feet in the passage; therefore,
choice A is incorrect. Choice E is the correct answer.
Remember: Try not to let previous knowledge of a subject lead you to an incorrect
answer choice! Make your decisions based only on the material in the statement or
passage.
